For Student Involvement and Professional Development

Students in the Higher Education program can expect to become actively involved in professional organizations, and to have opportunities for presenting at state, regional and national conferences. The faculty in the Higher Education program are themselves actively involved in a variety of professional organizations, and strongly encourage student involvement. Students are able to receive financial support for professional development from sources such as the Research Institute for Studies in Education, the Graduate College, the Graduate Student Senate, in addition to departmental grants. Students are also encouraged to get involved with organizations on campus, including the Graduate Student Senate and the Higher Education Graduate Student Organization.

Students can look forward to interacting with and learning from nationally known scholars and researchers in various areas within higher education. Many national leaders have been brought to campus by the Higher Education program faculty to teach student seminars, present research results, conduct campus-wide forums and informally interact with students.
