REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DOCTORAL PROGRAM
Rationale for Admission
Criteria
To prepare scholars who
will contribute to the discipline.
To provide a minimum set of requirements for all students admitted to study for advanced degrees in the College of Education. Individual emphasis areas may have additional requirements for admission to study in their programs. For example, some programs may require a demonstration of professional competence prior to admission to study for the Ph.D. degree. The Higher Education program requires 3-5 years of post-masters professional experience.
Admission Requirements
for the Doctoral Program
- Admission to the Ph.D.
degree in the College of Education may be granted to applicants
who meet all Graduate College requirements, and the following
requirements for the College of Education:
- 1. Standing in top
one-half of the undergraduate class
- 2. Receipt of Graduate
Record Examination (GRE) general test scores
- 3. Receipt of three letters of recommendation from previous employers, professors, or professional colleagues
- 4. English proficiency
on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) demonstrated
by achieving a score of 560 or higher, if is not the
student's native language.
- 5. Some form of written statement received. (Educational Leadership requires a statement of philosophy and goals.)

provided by the Graduate College includes the following information:
- 1. Graduate College
application form
2. Form for certification of bachelor's or advanced degree
3. Forms for request of official transcript
4. Letters of recommendation (preferably on letterhead - 3 required)

3. Written statement of professional goals
4. Resume
5. Personal interview
