Educational Administration FAQs for Prospective Students

Q. If I am an international school, what do I do first?

Q. Is the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) required for international students?
A. Yes, with a minimum verbal score of 360.

Q. How many credits can be transferred from another university?
A. For the master’s degree, a total of 22 credit hours must be earned at Iowa State University.
For the doctoral degree, a total of 36 credit hours must be earned at Iowa State University.

Q. Do transcripts from other universities have to be official or can they be copies?
A. Official transcripts must be requested and must include a complete listing of courses, grades, and credit received.

Q. If I am a graduate of Iowa State University, do I have to submit an application to the Graduate College?
A. Yes, but you do not have to pay the $20 application fee.

Q. Is there a minimum GPA requirement for admission?
A. Yes, the top half of your graduating class.

Q. Are there any other examinations required for admission?
A. Only the TOEFL for international students and the GRE for the PhD Program.

Q. Is there a minimum score requirement for the GRE?
A. No, as the required admission documents are evaluated on an individual basis as a total package.
