Iowa State University is the first public land- grant institution as a result of the Morrill Act of 1862. Home of the Cyclones and the first electronic-digital computer, ISU has an enrollment of nearly 28,000 students and is one of 62 prestigious institutions named as major research universities.

The mission of the College of Human Sciences is to optimize human potential and performance within a pluralistic and global society. To achieve this mission requires academic rigor, practical experience, and the integration of learning, teaching, discovery, and engagement. The College of Human Sciences seeks to ensure excellence in its services and programs by developing selective areas for national and international prominence.
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS), one of six departments within the College of Human Sciences, offers the following four programs:
