Educational Administration Faculty Give Jordan Larson Award to Mary Delagardelle

Pictured at left is Dr. Mary Delagardelle receiving the 2006 Jordan L. Larson award from Dr. Jim Scharff. Each year the Educational Administration faculty honor the previous year's outstanding graduate in Educational Administration from the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University.
Dr. Delagardelle is the executive director of the Iowa School Boards Foundation. Her dissertation was on the roles and responsibilities of school board members in relation to student achievement. She summarizes her research with three words: "School boards matter." With over thirty years as an educator, serving as a teacher, principal, and school board member, she is now working with the Iowa Association of School Boards in local school board member professional development activities focusing on improving instruction. Delagardelle is a past principal at Edwards Elementary in Ames. |
