Required Application Materials and Admissions Criteria for the Doctoral Program

Application Materials to be Supplied by the Student to the Higher Education Admissions Committee

1. Graduate College application form
2. Official transcripts of work completed at each institution of higher education attended
4. Three letters of recommendation (preferably on letterhead)

5. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test scores

6. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores 560 or higher (220 if taken on computer), if English is not the student's native language.
7. Written statement of professional goals
8. Resume
9. Personal interview (Qualified students will be contacted for an interview once their materials have been reviewed by the Admissions Committee.)

Admission Criteria

  • Academic ability to successfully complete doctoral study, as evidenced by successful completion of a master's degree, undergraduate and graduate grades, and GRE scores.
  • Demonstrated success in the field of higher education, as evidenced by 3-5 years of full-time professional experience in higher education and strong letters of recommendation.
  • Clear professional and scholarly goals.
  • A faculty member in the department who is available to advise the student to ensure successful completion of coursework and scholarly initiatives including the doctoral dissertation.
